Currently based in Bath, Somerset, Marine Ecological Surveys (MES) has over 30 years experience in the marine ecological sector. Typical projects undertaken by the company include:

Environmental Impact Assessments: Marine Ecological Surveys produce and contribute to EIAs for many different industrial sectors. The developments and industrial activities that Marine Ecological Surveys have produced EIA documents for inlcudes marine aggregates extraction projects, off shore wind farm developments, ports and harbours developments and other major construction and engineering projects that may have ecological impacts on the marine environment.

Primary Research: A good deal of Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd recent work centres on primary research on the impact of major projects including dredging and marine aggregate mining on the benthic biological resources and epibenthic communities including fish. MES staff have international experience in marine science and are able to advise clients on appropriate cost- effective mitigation measures to minimise impact on the marine environment.

Eco-Audit & Monitoring Programmes: Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd has carried out a major series of up to ten international eco-audit and environmental monitoring programmes per year over the past 29 years. MES staff have authored over 200 detailed monitoring and assessment reports for clients.

Site Appraisals: Where environmental resources and their sensitivity to disturbance are assessed as one of the factors which controls the suitability of a site for development. Liability of purchasers for environmental damage is an important factor in both site acquisition and insurance for a wide range of commercial activities from marine aggregates extraction, to off shore wind farm developments, to ports and harbours developments, and other major construction and engineering projects that may have ecological impacts on the marine environment.

MES currently employs 20 people and continues to provide high level consultancy to both the industry and industry regulators.
